News Producer / Social Media Content Creator

JOB DESCRIPTION:

News Not Noise is hiring an experienced journalist to produce news content for social media and direct our team of content creators. This is a full time remote position.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Jessica Yellin to curate news and create daily news and culture reels, videos, and stories to post across social media platforms.

  • Identify underreported stories + those that remind us of the good in life. 

  • Assign and track work by other members of the team. 

  • Produce news interviews including for our weekly podcast.

  • Identify possible contributors outside the organization.

  • Use analytics tools to gain insights and grow the audience.

ESSENTIALS:

  • Sharp news writing skills including  clear, plain language that doesn’t miss nuance.

  • Be comfortable working remotely and independently while understanding deadlines.

  • Excellent news judgment including discerning important stories and identifying sources

  • Familiarity with social media trends. You know it’s going to be viral before it’s viral.

  • Speed, accuracy and a determination to get it done.

  • An eye for the unusual, curiosity and compassion are key. 

  • Humble, collaborative, and fun. Sense of humor is a must!

  • Familiarity with major topics in politics, world events, tech, science, and culture.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. 2 years experience in journalism, journalism school, or work in politics, organizing or social action.
