News, without a panic attack
Welcome to the community. We’re so glad you’re here.
In 2018, I founded News Not Noise to cover the news differently.
I spent 17 years working in TV news and learned an important lesson. The TV news model is really good at generating anxiety and ratings, but there’s a big audience that wants news told differently.
I launched on Instagram, making videos and posting stories that broke down major events with context and clarity, and identifying the noise you can ignore. It took off and today has grown into a super-engaged community of like-valued people across multiple platforms.
News Not Noise is dedicated to providing you substantive, succinct information on the stories that impact your life. We break down complicated issues; interview experts not pundits; and answer your questions with facts and context. We separate the news from the noise, so you know which stories matter and which you can ignore. And we do it all on your phone.
Find us on Instagram and Substack. You can watch and listen to all our interviews on Youtube and Spotify. You can also find us on Facebook and LinkedIn.
About Jessica Yellin
I’m an Emmy, Peabody, and Gracie award-winning political correspondent.
I was Chief White House Correspondent for CNN during the Obama years and covered Congress and national elections for CNN before that.
I have interviewed President Obama, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, First Lady Michelle Obama, and conducted interviews with Presidents Bill Clinton, George H. W.Bush and First Lady Laura Bush.
From 2004-2007 I covered the Bush White House at ABC News, primarily for Good Morning America. And I worked at MSNBC during its more conservative days – anyone else remember when it was called “America’s News Channel” and had a big American flag for its logo? I’ve reported from Russia, China, Europe, the Middle East, and Latin America.
My writing has been published in the New York Times and the Los Angeles Times, and I published my first novel, Savage News, in 2019.
I graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Harvard University and was born and raised in Los Angeles, California.
